Personal & Fun Facts about Dr. Yi:
-
K-POP — She was recruited to join a Korean singing group in high school.
-
Artist at Heart — She drew people's faces from childhood and always wanted to become an artist. Now she gets to be an "artist–surgeon," having designed her own logo, website, and office decor — keeping her childhood dream alive.
-
Roots in Dentistry — As a young child in a rural Korean town, she grew up watching her father, a dental technician, care for his neighbors' teeth. Dentistry has been part of her life from the very beginning.
-
Pacific Northwest — She moved to the Pacific Northwest for family and fell in love with the mountains, water, and evergreens.
-
Love at First Sight — Her 3rd-year dental school rotation introduced her to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and she never looked back.
-
Free Time — She enjoys baking, karaoke, camping, and spending time with her husband, her two children, and the family goldendoodle, who firmly believes she is a guard dog.

Dr. Ju Yon Sophie Yi is one of the very few female, American Board Certified, dual-doctorate Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons in Washington State. She has practiced in the greater Seattle area since 2012, following a 6-year residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. The first in her family to graduate from college, she went on to earn two doctorate degrees - both Dental and Medical - and complete one of the most rigorous residencies in the nation under the mentorship of world-renowned surgeons. She truly enjoys the intricacies of oral surgery and seeing her patients' relief when their procedure is behind them.

She also doesn't fit the stereotypical mold of a "surgeon" — she's only 5'4" and wears size small gloves.

For pediatric and anxious patients, Dr. Yi offers in-office General Anesthesia days with a dedicated, American Board Certified Anesthesiologist — a level of anesthesia care few oral surgery offices in the region provide.
